I bought Shimano Cardiff 400a last weekend and not even a week later I'm getting this ridiculously loud screaming noise each time I cast. I assume this has something to do with the reel requiring oil however I was wondering a. has anyone else had this issue? b. whats the best type of oil or lubricant to use? Any insight I can get would be greatly appreciated as I'm holding off on using the reel until I can be sure its not getting damaged in anyway.

It might not be oil related, but from the spool rubbing for some other reason. I assume you have enough end play.

If its brand new and not working right, return it. Bottom line.
