Just wondering what seems to be the best bang for your buck Dropshot rod out there?

For me anything north of $250 is too much for a single purpose rod. So while I realize the NRX, Megabass etc are mint its just not in the cards for me right now.

Looking for advice on length etc.

Seem to me the E6X 6'9" is a great rod

In my opinion you can't go wrong with the E6X for the price and the quality of the rod! I have yet to pick one up but I've never seen a Gloomis disappoint

A good fast tip with back bone is what your looking for. I'm using a Cumara with no problems

Seems the Abu Veritas is a good rod also.
I'm just leery of lower end rods is all.

If your at Ed's check the ABU Veracity line, the spinning rod is nice and it's ABU, I've had good experience with their customer service over a rod that broke and it's budget conscious.

My advice - don't over think it.

I use a 6'8 compre and have no problem feeling everything below and catching loads of smallies and walleye.
I had an 11 year old several times with me last year using a very old 2 piece rod and he too was loading the boat.

By all means, if it's your thing get technical and spend the money, but there's nothing to be leery about.

I plan to use it anywhere from 5-40ft

Personal preference really, a shorter rod will help you stay vertical if your dropping down right ontop of the fish, I prefer longer rods 7'2"+ but most of the time I'm casting my drop shot rig away from the boat.

Now this could be my lack of experience with this method but do you not want as much of a straight up and down presentation when doing this??

No you can cast and slowly work it back also drag it along bottom and vertically work it over the fish

Personally, I cast it more often than drop it vertically for bass.

My experience is most anglers prefer a rod anywhere from 6'8" to a 7'2" rod. There are a slew of choices out there from $93.95 to $700.00+. Having said that, you can get a great rod from the $140.00 to $230.00. You might look at the Shimano Crucial drop shot rod in MH. It is a great drop-shot rod but can also be used for tubes. My fishing partner has one and loves it.
