My buddy and I took advantage of the great weather last night to go carp fishing in the Rideau River. It was a fun evening with three fishing landed ranging from 6kg to over 12kg. I landed the big fish of the night which broke our 12kg scale. It was 36†long and we didn’t take a girth measurement as we wanted to get it back in the water quickly. I found an online tool that estimates a fish’s weight based on its length and apparently a 36†carp should weight approximately 26.5lbs. But I think this fish weighed more because it destroyed the scale. I’m guessing 28lbs. Whatever it weighed it is my PB for carp and the biggest fish I have ever caught. It put up a great fight that I will not soon forget. All of the fish were successfully released.
Here are some pictures from the evening. The first two pictures are of the same fish.
