BOQ Ice fishing guide question

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

BOQ Ice fishing guide question

Post by Jimmy_1 »

I want to get my weelad a guided walleye fish this winter on the BOQ for a Xmas gift.

Can anyone suggest a good guide?
Reasonable cost for the 2 of us?
I use to go with G2 but they aren't guiding anymore.

Thanks!

Awesome!

Well if we could get some guys together and share gear expenses it may be cheaper.

Got him his 1st gar this year, like to get him a big walleye

I'm friends with Ed from Chasin Eyes charters and would highly recommend them

Quinte Ice fishing team and many others are also great options

These guys are on the ice all the time and keep an eye one the eyes movement through the bay all winter

This is without question your and your sons best opportunity to pull a 10+ pound fish through this ice

If you are taking a young lad out I would aim for end of Jan-early Feb to make sure the ice is nice and hard as quinte can be unpredictable

Thanks ST, but Jimmy knows me all too well. He was my first client EVER back in May 2011.

Jimmy, go with Jeff Chisolm if he's not booked solid already.

I might be going up that way too at one point. The Ottawa is a fantastic winter walleye fishery, but it ain't Quinte! Although...Quinte's a long drive to get skunked.

Well point is we decided as a family that Santa will not be bringing toys that get unused!

Its outdoor/adventure items at our house this xmas....plus baby is due to make an appearance around that time also.

Skiing, skating, ice fishing, metal detectors etc are all on the list.

No LEGO, action figures etc that never get used and clutter up the house(s)!

Yes, Yannick is a great guy and I highly recommend his services! I booked him as a guide back in 2011 and it was an awesome day (albeit the weather TRULY sucked).

I only really get to fish when my son is with me. We did some gar this summer and got him on one. He has that pic framed at my place, my girlfriends place, his grandparents place and his mother's place. He truly is VERY proud of that accomplishment!

So I thought, a great bonding and fun xmas adventure would be to go to Quinte with him for walleye. Get a motel, breaky, fish all day with heat and flashers and a shot at a beauty eye!
My 1st Quinte adventure resulted in a 10lb+ eye for me so hopefully it will be the same for him!
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I do want it to be a gift certificate though!

One skunk in 250 trips and only because we had to fish an easy access spot with a group of Asian diplomats on a tour of the city. It was a favor I did for a local tourism group. No paying group has gotten skunked yet but obviously some days are better than others. The Ottawa is a numbers fishery for walleye mostly, but when you hit the bigguns, it's a Quinte-esque.

My pick would be Joe Pickstock at PB n J.

Awesome guy to fish with and he will put you on safe ice, that is your number one concern with Quinte. Joe lives right there and is on the ice everyday so he knows.

I dunno about that Steve

I fished WBay a lot this winter.
Not many quality eyes were caught! Keep in mind we put the shack right over a hole one of our buddy's pulled a 10lb walter out of.

It was not repeated and 8 guys were fishing it day and night all season.
