I think it is a joke and not a very good one.I pay dearly as does anybody else that looks at their electric bill.I do not need big brother to tell me to turn off the one light I have onat night.I have better ways of makeing myself feel good thank you very much.

Funny, my daughter is an Environmental Scientist and we participated last year, we live next to Lake Hopatcong here in Jersey. With any lake there are plenty of creatures, like bats, ya know where this is headed! The lites were off for no more than 10 minutes when my wife says she sees something, sure enough it's a bat whippin around the house! The ladies dive under the throw on the sofa and leave me to the task. Lites go on, I grab the broom and do my best Mickey Mantle, home run! Now I have to find the thing and get it out of the house, after turnin the kitchen upside down I find it behind the freezer, I took the knocked out bat and tossed it on to the driveway off the deck. Five minutes later I go to check on it and the darned thing was gone! Must have just stunned it, glad I found it, ever since the ladies look around when the lites go off! No bats this time ariound!

8:30 PM ... Saturday Night! ...... Oh Yeah that's right! It's right in the middle of how many hockey games televised in Canada? Whoops guess I missed it because .. Well I was watching the Sen's beat the Panthers! :D Just imagine the reaction of the hockey fan base if all the lights went out a mid game. "Sorry Ladies and Gentlemen but we are observing Earth Hour". I can just see Rick Mercer having fun with this one!

I would like to thank all those who turned off their lights. I had more juice than I needed so I was able to store some in a bucket (white of course). Now when the next power failure comes I have a whole bucket that I can just pour into the sockets and use.

PS I turned all my lights on so that airplanes wouldn't crash into the area. See I am civic minded.

Celebrating freedom of religious choice, instead of bowing down to Mother Earth via Earth Hour, Earth Day, etc, Instead, I chose to celebrate
Alpha Proxima Day. No apologies to disciples of Goracle everywhere... your religion just doesn't fit mine. :? :D

PS
Can I add fishing in this thread? Is that still allowed? Were the crappie affected by the bridge lights being out?
