Well, thats no good! I have never really targeted crappie, but am trying this year. Do you think the lack of bite is due to this cooler weather or is this the temp. they normally start to bite......anyone ?

Doug had predicted that the cold front would slow down the bite... he was right.

I have been catching lots of crappie in these 2 spots (until last night), the water level didn't change, the water was clear, seems Doug was right and the cold front killed the bite. Hope to try again tonight...

You weren't alone dude. Water temps dropped 9 degrees where I was fishing last weekend......sure we found some dink bluegills to play with but it was tough out there for sure.

Funny thing is...I warned Birdee it was going to very tough...but we went anyways....it's a big deal at my place when she admits I'm "right"...

RJ - Listen to Birdee cause she's right, even when you're right, she's right. And if she admits you're right, she's all right... :D

(or she wants you to do something)

I like this report. Do you mind if I cut and paste it?
...Because this is how most of my outings end up.

It was a tough day for us too. Jig Head and I were out fishing on Sat and could not keep the bluegills off the line. The front had no effect on them whatsoever. Managed one 11'' crappie that was glued to a peice of floating driftwood. All other panfish were grouped tight to the reeds.

Big Zero for me too! Couldn't get to the spot I wanted to go..on the Rideau. Started fishing along the shore..and took some yapping from some home owners that didn't like us fishing in front of there house....then pulled up on shore to find a tree to get rid of some coffee and got reemed again from some waterfront owners from the other side of the river that saw us and wanted to know why we had come ashore! Thought we were stealing something!!! Were going to call the cops on us! Not a fisherman friendly spot. All in all a crappy day!

Nothing for me either. The Crappie shut down hopefully they will come back.

But Good news in my souting this weekend I found a very cool spot easy access from shore that held a tonne of blue gils. Every cast produced a good size blue gil. I only stayed about a half hour and checked a few fallen trees and rubble and found no crappie so I went home. Good news is that when it warms up I think this will be a great crappie spot. 8)

And when June comes along maybe I too can look like 24/7 and throw out my arm with a huge large mouth. I may have to loose a few pounds and get some tatoos, wear a hoody. On second thought I will just take a pic of the bass.

Good luck with the hunt for Crappie let us know when the bite is back on. I am sure when it comes back it will be good everywhere.

Thanks

Hey if you can't catch any fish just play the blues, jazz or funk or whatever turns your crank. Just not that computer dance crap that is not music. 8)
