"Musky Creek" Season Opener

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

We had two new weapons coming into this season:

1.) A tin can with an electric motor (no more chest waders!!)
2.) Some monster minnows

Started with a white 1/2 oz spinner, but after a couple of strikes but no serious attempts, I put on a big fat minnow with an excalibur hook.

Cast #1 -- My personal best (doesn't say much):

Cast #2 -- Fish on! The drag screamed, my buddy did some swearing. 11.3 lbs.

Then I let my fishing buddy take a pic with her because he "caught" it 30 minutes earlier but it jumped over my musky cradle, and got off. I was deemed a terrible net man, and I "owed" him to let him take a picture with it.

I can't figure out if it's tiger musky or a barred, any ideas?

At the end of the day, I got my PB, then shattered it the following cast. What a great day!

Yes definately barred. Nice fish. Tigers are "stubbier" Their bodies are shorter and fatter based on my experience on the ottawa. Their heads are a little smaller. Very powerful fish to fight. They make strong runs and thrash. They jump a little less...again in my experience.

I'll post the pick of one I caught last year if I can find it to compare.

Again, Good for you with the boat and the fish..twice!!!

Thats a musky, Agressive.

It's definitely something we don't take for granted. It's a pretty special spot.

I know others know about it too, we saw a brand new lure hanging from a tree last time we went.
