BAG OF RICE
is all you need to fix a drenched phone.... ive flooded 3 phones (crapy, cheap phones) 2 of them at least 3 times each

..... my girlfriend flooded her galaxy s3 and blackbeary z10 brand new smart phones and they all worked after 3 days in the rice bag....
I don't mean sprinkled with water, i mean submerged and taken out of pocket streaming... just take the battery out ASAP remove as much of water as possible ( shaking blowing, blow dryer, car dash fan,ect...) and stuff it in the bag for 2 days or more, it should work .....
but definitely do not trie to turn on before 2 days....
i cant
guaranty it ,but ive personally seen it work miracles....

This is an option, not always a solution.
Yes I've heard this works for some phones but not always. Tried the exact method with my phone and it did nothing to prevent the phone being rendered useless.

Worked for me with an Iphone 4. It was submerged under a dock for 12 hrs. fished it out the next morning. put it right into a bag of rice for 4 days and didnt try to turn it on. Has been working for over a year and still going strong.
I had water damaged another iphone the year before, i tried to turn it on and see if it still work....bad call, phone was finished.
and now i learned my leason and have a waterproof case...

It all depends if the phone was on when it gets soak. Usually that will fry the phone and rice won't help/

Sadly, doesn't work on Apple products since it is impossible to get the battery out fast enough.
The key is to get the battery out QUICKLY. When the circuitry is powered it immediately starts a process of electrolysis (strips metal circuitry, and re-deposits it in other places making short circuits) that ultimately causes the permanent damage. Removing the power removes the electrolysis.
You can also save up those packets that come with electronics, those crystals pull in 20x their weight in water.
