Hey Everyone,

I'm a long time reader but new member; I wish my first post was for more auspicious reasons.

Our shack at Shirley's Bay was broken into over the weekend and everything that wasn't chained down was jacked. Of course, murphy's law dicatets it would be the one time I decided to leave my electric auger out there o\....derp. If anyone saw two guys on snowmobiles lurking around the huts (there were tracks leading to our hut) and has any info, or if some shady guy tried selling you a yellow electric jiffy auger, please do let me know!

Aside from that, its been a great year at the bay!

If you are looking for it on Kijiji or UsedOttawa... here is a tip for you:

When you search for the word "Auger" also look for the word; "Hoger" or "Hogger".

I am not kidding.

It is the Québec French (The hillbilly ones anyway) idea of what English people are saying when we say AUGER... so... they write Hoger or Hogger.

It is up there with "Galliper" for "Calipers" (Brakes) and "Fule Lowd" for "Fully Loaded".

Just a tip, not making light of you getting ripped off by some ball-less wonders.

Don't assume it was two people on sleds. The MNR were visiting everyone Saturday afternoon on two sleds and they most definitely stopped by your shack to check things out... Hopefully it wasn't them!

That sucks. I have no use for thieves.

Though we no longer have a shack we were lucky enough to dodge that bullet on Lower Rideau for years...

I knew this forgetful lad who was constantly paranoid about being stuck with a dull auger. As you could imagine, he was forever buying spare blades and leaving them in the weirdest places in his hut. Luckily my forgetful buddy always had his wits about him in the morning, remembering exactly where he had left his spares blades the night before. If it wasn't for those moments of clarity that he experienced each morning, he could have easily hurt himself badly had he barged in without thinking first.

My grand father is a salesman and a hoarder, he would hord bull electric fence material right at the entrance of his garage... He also stored this material plugged into the wall and connected to a puddle of water when you took a step into his garage... He always remembered to flip a switch before walking in, he also was good at justifying his hoarding habbits to the local friendly police force...

Why must these low-life's do this sort of chit?

I hope you either find your stuff, or that these c-sukkers get whats coming to them.

On the flip side, it'll be open-water season soon. You'll surely find a deal on a new auger in the coming weeks!

Sorry to hear about the loss! Assholes are everywhere fellas. Our hut didn't get hit but we have several times in the past. I use a screw to keep the door shut and leave nothing in the hut. Its all you can do.......
