Post by acadian »

Good morning everyone

I would like to see my mercury running with the cover off to adjust idle however when it is running the top part of the motor also turns and I need the cover to pull the cord to get it to start. thank you....

:o That screw holds the rewind together, there are latches either below the engine pan or on the handle at the back of the cover they are sneaky so you have to look for it. DON"T TOUCH THAT SCREW

If your looking to the back of the boat you remove the front cover first.
There is a release knotch at the bottom you have to slide to the left i think. Release the 2 knotches behind the front cover.
Then the main motor covers(sides) hinge open from the first panel you took off. Dont open them to far or they will come right off.
Thats how my merc 150hp cover panels work anyways.
I would try this when the motor isnt running first but i dont believe you can hurt yourself in any moving parts. Choke should be on the top left if your looking to the back end of boat.
