Have any of you had experience with using your flasher unit as a depth/fish finder on your boat?I was told it can maintain exact depth at any speed Looking for input

Tip-up:
I rigged up my fls-8 pro pack in my 14 foot aluminum . All i had to do was make a braket to hold the transducer in the water . It worked great . It would read just as fast as my old 9.5 johnson would go (not a real good test of speed)

Tip-up: There is a kit available from Vexilar to convert your ice unit to a boat. It contains a mount for the flasher itself and associated hardware as well as another transducer. If I remember correctly it sells in the neighbourhood of $120.00, but I would have to check on that to be sure.

s to performance in a boat, Gambler Steve would be a better judge of that. He has one mounted on the front of his boat.

Toobinators giving you the solid info tipup . Alot of bass boats still come with vexilars mounted right in the dash . They do work good and theres still many guys who run nothing else on a boat . I tried my Marcum this November just by plopping the ice transducer over the side and jigging below it and it worked very well but I will be getting the proper high speed transducer to bolt on the boat come summer even though I use a graph mostly but being able to get that instant feed back working a jig should be fun in open water too . We did it years ago before the time of the lcd and I am going to do it again too .

I used my FL18 on the bow of my boat last summer. It work great, but I found that I was always adjusting the gain or the depth range. It takes some getting used to, not see the a full screen of the fishfinder. I think the trolling motor mounting kits was around $120 - $140.
