Pump some out of the tank and see if it is cloudly or clear. Gasoline doesn't seem to have a long shelf life.

If your problem was fuel related you would experience hard starting, rough running and also if it's bad enough it won't start.
When you say it taes up to a minute to respond do you mean the boat is not moving at all or does ti take time to get up to speed?...Larry

thx Haybay Larry.....
the boat moves when in gear and it responds to how hard the motor is pushing (i realise it takes a lil time to get the boat up to full speed) the porblem is when u turn the handle to run the motor fast the motor dosent respond..... the motor behaves as though ur running with the handle in a slow position (the motor dosent sound like its pushing wide open or behave like it)

Jebby,
It could be carburetor related. If it hasn't been serviced or maintaned properly it could be a stuck float or something.
You can try spraying a product called engine tuner or equivalent. This product cleans out the fuel system and any built up carbon in the cylinders. You can purchase it at marine dealers. Follow the direction on the label. It is also good to use for basic tuneup procedure depending how often you use the motor. It's cheap and easy to use...Larry
