Bent Trolling Motor Column

Post by Eagle »

Hope this is the correct forum.

We have a Motorguide FW46 bow mount trolling motor. Found out it does not get along with Ontario rock very well. Any tips on getting the column straight again? Is there and aftermarket steel column that can replace the original?

Thanks for the help,

Bent or kink or crease

Post by mikemicropterus »

:D I have seen these straightened no need to replace unless the shaft is BADLY creased or kinked. Its like straightening a fork leg on a motorcycle. Done that many times. Make up a jig, find the high spot and stress it past straight and check. It's time consuming at first but not half as bad as trying to change the shaft. Do you know how to solder????
