Hi Joco, Interstate batteries are the best ones I have seen so far, you can get them at certain car garages or marinas

Joco,

Not sure about the Energizer deep cycle, but I can tell you I have a bike and 2 cars with Energizer's from WalMart cause the price was hard to beat and I have not has a single issue is over 4 years.

Not sure what else is out there I was thinking the CostCo kirkland look like a good deal too. Pretty sure they look like rebranded energizers.

I just bought an Energizer from Walmart on sale, but it is not a 100% deep cycle battery. It is a dual purpose battery (along with most other "dual purpose marine deep cycles".

The best option it to buy a REAL deep cycle. The type that are used on wheel chairs and golf carts. They might cost a little more but they will last far longer.

I have 2 "TROJAN" deep cycle marine batteries from "TOTAL BATTERY" in my boat. A little bit more money but excellent product.

I too bought a Energizer deep/starting battery from Walmart on sale just this weekend. $80 for 180min reserve. I figure even it only last a year. Its cheap!

Has anyone tried "deka marine batteries"? I have never heard of them until just recently.

I just purchased a new Gel Cell deep cycle battery manufactured by East Penn (Deka). Their web site has a couple of great articles:
http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0149.pdf
http://www.eastpenn-deka.com/assets/base/0139.pdf

Regardless which battery you buy, ensure you know the charging profile of that battery and get a battery charger that is acceptable for charging that battery - otherwise, short battery life cycle.

This is battery I bought last year for my 40lb minn kota....I just got back from a 3 day trout fishing trip and the battery was still getting me around the lake with the trolling motor...used it Friday, all day Saturday fighting with the wind and 6hrs this morning......it has 205min of reserve capacity as opposed to the other gel one at 55min...

Was recommended Trojans a few years ago here on FH, I now use 2 to run my 80lb MK PDAPUS Never never had a problem in 3 years. I had lots of problems with CT batteries only lasting 1-2 years and I'm not a tournament angler either.

I too have used trojans and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. i sold a boat last year with a trojan scs 225 deep cycle that was 8 YES 8 years old and still going.
No matter what type of battery you get look after it.
If it's a traditional lead acid battery remember to charge it up full after each use, and ONLY use distilled water to fill it. ...Larry
