Looking for some input on what people think of aluminum for flooring in a boat. Has anyone ever used it? I can get it for cheap probably cheaper than marine plywood. I would obviously have to put some rubber moulding around the edges to prevent rubbing, but what about heat? How hot do you think it would get under carpet? Any other thoughts?

aluminum makes a lot of sense to me, less weight and it will last for ever. I know the topend manufactures are getting away from wood. I would think that the heat generated would be dependant on the colour of the carpet???

Check out Boat Project posted here.

My casting decks and mainfloor is aluminum. Very easy to install and carpet.

I did notice that threat, boat looks really good. What did you use to cut the aluminum? Does the aluminum hold much heat? How thick of aluminum?
