Sorry I can't recommend a welder. I bought a drop in live well a couple years ago for the last boat I owned. Try Westmarine at the kingston centre. They can order you a complete kit.

THis is the Kit I purchased on ebay.

Stainless is sure not cheap. Maybe heavy gauge alum. would save you some cash?

Hi, I was just looking at some of the older classified adds and it seems I've missed out on some great deals! Anyways, I saw something there about someone else looking for an aluminium welder. And it was Wallyboss that recommended an Ottawa welding shop. I've been looking but I can't find it again in there.....maybe pm Wallyboss.

I think it was Richies welding... and the work done was excellent, hence the Wallyboss recommendation. So, maybe pm wallyboss for the #.

thanks fella's...I will get ahold of wallyboss for sure.
1lastcast, the livewell looks good, what are the dimensions and where did ya get it? Did you take foam out of the seat to put it in?
p.s. what dimensions would you think I need to hold 4-5 fish comfortably??

No problem orrsey,

I was thinking like $10 for the referral... that sounds right to me. Let me know how you want to pay it, I'm in Ottawa, so maybe you could drop by my work? Anyways, I'll pm ya...

I dont have the boat anymore. But I remember the Length was 24" x 16 x 16 deep. I used it for Bass mostly. If I could have done it over again I would have tried to get a longer model. Then I would have more room for walleye and such.

I used the template provided and cut out the seat, removed the foam needed. drill the well for the blumbing. Drop the well into the seat and attached the lid with SS bolts.

You also have to drill a hole into the tramsom for the intake/return line.
On the Left is the intake with a SS strainer. The return is on the right.
I used a maraine grade silicon to seal around the holes.

A 500gph pump connected just after the transome would pump water into the livewell at the top side. I connected a drain and used a stand pipe cut to the height to allow the water to overflow into and drain out to the transom. gravity works great. Then when you want the well empty just pull the stand pipe out and all the water will run out.

I built a floor at the rear section of the boat to cover the pipes and give me more comfort to stand.

I also built a electrical panel to hold my Nav lighting switched and also the pump timer. I purchased the timer at Bass Pro. It allowed the pump to be set for say 1min ON/ 5min OFF. saves on your battery power.

Another thing you need to know about this setup is to turn off the pump when ever you move using the main motor. The placment of the intake will be out of the water when the boat is on plane.

I bought the boat hatch and locker on ebay. It was around $200 for everything when said and done.

If you have the same type of boat. you could have a welder weld up a tank in the center seat and for a lid. have him cut and bend one and use a SS piano hinge to attach it to the boat.

:D
