Moosebunk I will first take the time to respond to what you have posted.
- There is absolutely nothing wrong with mounting a big fish, in fact its a reminder of good memories. No disagreement there its a personal choice. But theres a difference of keeping 5-8 monster fish like in the pic posted. Which shouldnt (recommendation) but very well could be (personal choice). But its very well proven bigger strain fish produce bigger fish in future where do we lose in that? So id have to say I agree with you..

I'd educate those people & even if they didnt listen. I'd still let them know the importance those fish could have to their resources they are using. I'd let them know how they can possibly benefit from releasing even a couple of those fish. In my eyes, or any common C&R angler theres no harm in that.
As to posting pics on here its awesome to see people post pics with big smiles on their face with their prized catches sure. I agree with you on that. Just to me that pic is more of a massacre. In my opinion to post pics of fish on a respected site to many anglers, such as this one. In my opinion you should pose the fish in a respectful manner. Not 8-12 fish spread out all over the ground. Theres better ways of doing it!!
Theres nothing wrong with keeping fish most people do even I've kept one eye this winter season. But i dont see a need or benefit in keeping that many "BIG FISH" breeders.. I dont see how we benefit by taking that many out of the water..
Quote " I may sound a little harsh but it is people like you who make weekend fisherman out to get a meal feel like an butt."
If you knew me you woulndt say that. Im a very easy guy to talk to and I deal with weekend fisherman everyday. However I still remind the odd few about the importance of C&R. I feel its my job to give back to the sport I love!
and growing up well! I may be in my early 20's. And have lots more time to hit the water. However I thought when we had personal attacks on people we used the "PM" feature. However you responded to me o nhere so now I'll respond to you! I know what I've posted o nthis thread I have no regrets posting. I also know its the most viewed post right now in the above threads. So I'm not regretting anything I have posted now or previously.. I speak what I feel and share my opinion I thought that was part of being a grown up! However its the way you respond that really determines how grown up you really are! So goodbye for now!
And to everyone I'll probably see you soon! Look for me at a booth at the boat show!

Another McLaurin Bay pic????
Spence I meant to show no disrespect to your catch and release practice or beliefs as I am the very same way. It is the way you come on to a public forum and "rip" as you called it other people for doing something legal. By all means tell people the benefits of catch and release but please don't tell them it is wrong.
I realize i should have sent my first post in a pm and for anyone I may have upset I apologize but I stand by my statements. Until something illegal shows up please respect the person.
Now for those who would call me a hipocrite for doing the same thing I suggest spence not to do you are right and it will not be done again. but as someone else said it is beating a dead horse.
Once again I appologize!

OK folks, let's keep this one civil as well...please. I think it's important to recognize once again that everyone has and is entitled to their own oppinions. If these fish are in season and within limits from where they were caught, then there's nothing wrong with the pic.
I personally don't care to see a bunch of dead fish all lined up on the ground, but that's my personal preference. The larger fish are very impressive and are the focal point for me. Nice job on those.
Let's keep in mind that we all have differing oppinions on catching and keeping. As long as people are remaining within the legal limits and catching within season, then they are free to post here. We can use this type of forum to plead the case of protecting our fish species, and respecting our fisheries.

It's amazing how one picture sparks so many responses... no one knows the full story behind the catch.. perhaps it was from a weeks fishing... perhaps 5 guys caught the fish.. perhaps they ARE small fish wherever they were caught... who really knows. Sure it's not the best of pictures and screams 1950's
If someone is walking down the street with a fishing rod how many assume he just stole it ??? There's no facts from a single picture without a story to go with it

I don't feel that way at all....I respect all of you on this site and I don't have any problems with my name showing up in this topic. If it can help in some ways to make people aware of OOS morals (and not regulations because they are not clear enough at this moment) then it's a good thing.
In all situations each and everyone of us is responsible of what is going on on the water....this is where it's starts. If you are a good fisherman you will take your morals with you each time you go fishing and you will do well for the conservation of all species regardless of the regulations.
Don't forget that regulations are there to set up a guideline. If you want you can go against it and chances are you will never be caught.
Guidelines are there for us fisherman to set morals among us...This works better I think. Topics like this one can make a difference. For me it did change my ways.
You (I mean those 10 to 15 guys that support the OOS and size limits
regulations with your life)are doing a great thing for the conservation
of our fisheries....keep up the good work.
Also if you guys keep the pressure on C.O. you will get them to change the way some regulations are writen I'm sure.

Yan, I'm very impressed with the way you have handled yourself. We can all learn every day. I don't really agree with the way you have been scorned and ridiculed but it obviously did you no harm.
You took a ton of heat over your photo and have shown true character in your responses.
My hats off to you and may you continue to enjoy success both on the water and off.
