Baitcasters Kids Tourney! (with pics)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Can't unfortunately,
Son has soccer tourney that weekend or otherwise would.
Have fun, I assume you are going? I'm sure there'll be more good fish there that weekend. I didn't even get a chance to throw a top water lure or a worm Sun. Too busy putting worms on the kids hooks to catch the sunfish. They like quantity, not size in their fish. That area looked prime for some bigger bass to hang out which you proved quite nicely on Sunday.
Cheers,
Lloyd

We were at the other boat launch which we found to be less busy. Tells you how much I was looking at a container of worms rather than at the water. I missed you guys catching the big one. I'll have to try that spot again sometime. Perfect for the kids to fish from.

What were you catching there? Off those docks down the bank was just sunfish!

Perch, blue gill, and some small bass. I would think there would be larger bass near that tree overhanging the first launch and under the mess of grass and other cover between the two launches. A friend of mine went back after the tourney to fish that long pier and all they caught was sunfish too.

I don't have time this week either but I'll let you know if we plan to go there again. Might have to wait until Sept.

Crystal,

Can you please email me the picture of Gethyn with his walleye.

It was a fun day out on the water, just wish I (Dad) knew the rules as we tossed back 5 other walleyes as I though it was only 1 fish of each species.

Gethyn is already talking about next years' tournament and asked if we can go out and practice...what a kid.

matcolecat,

Congrat's to your daughter on a very nice largemouth bass, indeed! :D I'm sure it was a day full of fun & smiles watching all the kids with their excitement and enthusiasm.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
