hy all... wahts teh smallest you would dare take out into the detroit river.... i take my 14 ft tinney out by fighting island... its got an old 10 hp johnson and i was wondering if id be ok out around peche island.... any suggestions?
Not sure Jebby, never been there.
I would say a 16 ft boat with a 50hp motor would be a better bet though.
I was out last sunday on Lake Ontario. Went out from Burlington drop bridge and seen some waves coming in to the lauch but nothing to bad.
By the time i realized how bad the weather was i was trapped and had to go out into the lake to turn around. By the time i finally had a break between waves to turn around i was in about 6-7 foot waves and was crapping my pants. I have a 18.5 ft boat and have had a lot of scary experiences in my first year of boating. What i have learned is dont risk your life for a few fish its not worth it. A guy died down by credit the same morning and remember the water is getting cold these days.
