Thank God for Musky Season

Post by muskysean »

Hey guys and Gals,

Hope everyone had a good and safe opening weekend. It felt good to get out and throw the big baits again after a long winter! My brother-in-law and I went out for a couple of hours behind my place this afternoon. We ended up out on Stoco for a short time but the wind was blowing pretty hard for my little 14' tin can so we retreated back to the river. When we got back in the river I got a small 33 incher on my new Magnum Cowgirl and blew a bigger fish that slammed the same bait at boatside while I was daydreaming. We then decided to go back to my place for some lunch.

After lunch, instead of heading back out in the boat we decided to take a walk down river from my place to try some shore fishing. There is a good set of rapids with a fairly large pool below them that I figured had to hold some fish. We had never fished it but thought it would be worth trying out. It turned out to be and good call. Kris got his largest muskie in a couple of years. I honestly didn't expect to catch anything so we took just the basics with us. A rod each, a couple of baits and a set of pliers. That's it so when Kris hooked it I knew it was time for me to get wet. Wading into fast moving water to hand land an angry musky that kept trying to swim between my feet wasn't as much fun as you might think but you got to do what you got to do! Any ways it all turned out good and the fish was released with no problems. Next time maybe I'll bring the net though!
