I agree with you James about that but the two that have been mentioned in this thread...Mosque and Granite which MMA and TMH suggested are some that I had mentioned a long time ago before learning some info on why this is not good to do. I think they mentioned them to help in my education  . I think if this is where everyone wants to fish then I am up for it. After mentioning my lake a few times I have not noticed an increased pressure on it this year. In fact there was less boats on it this year then in the past. I think a more known lake is a good idea and we need to keep our honey holes a secret. Again MMA and TMH thanks for suggesting these lakes

Almost as good a spot as some bays for Musky or certain lakes for lakers  which I will keep nameless

Shiner has been repeatedly talked about on this site.....it is a lot closer than the hwy 41 lakes and is a roadside lake....

just my 2 cents... 8)....the lake is pretty small so I guess Jamsers won't be able to wind his sled up to 110mph   .....or maybe he could and give us a lot of entertainment flying through the trees

shiner is my favorite for roadside trout!!!

but the problem with doing it at shiner is that we might get some slack from a certain fly-fishing org. that stocks it as well. that group has put time and money into that lake.

now i know they don't own the lake, just out of respect.

i'm also with those who want to keep those gems a little secret.

so i'm going to assume that everybody is ok with roadside trout.

or we can pay and go to a trout farm like the bing retreat... or what eve it is.

thanks guys for keeping this thread civilised. i know we all are suffering from cabin fever.

I am still o.k with Mosque if people wanted to. The fact of having a cottage to warm people up would be good. But I am also up for a roadside fish too. Whatever happens I am in. Icefishing is my cup of tea...with a bit of Bailey's thrown in

let's pick a date and start with that, then we can decide on location.

mid-december anybody? no problems??

how does the 14th of december, or do we want to wait until january comes by and target brookies??

i'm not saying this is the date, just a suggestion.

i want everybody to be okay with the date.

ice fishing G2G

Post by Super »

Hi Guys,
Sounds like fun and a good way to get back into ice fishing.
I am keen for a day fish or a weekend wherever you guys want to go.
I have a Vex and fishing equipment and hand auger but no sled or 4 wheeler.
I have a van and am willing to drive others.
I am at north end of St Laurent.

That is exactly what I meant Katch...

So you think there will be enough ice on the 14th??? Maybe we will not need augers..just wait for James to hit the lake with his sled and break through. That should be a big enough hole for everyone. And think of the new structure for the fish to hang out in. Sorry James could not help it.

I'm in for an excursion anywhere. I live downtown and have all the gear (vex, extra rods, etc). I can drive a few other downtown dwellers as well, just as long as you are ok with punk/metal music at 4:00 am :D

Wow.. this posting took alot of action and I for one am very happy it did... I am all set with my gear to hit any lake for trout. I am just not sure what tackle but from what I read its pretty much the same as eyes.

December 14th would work very well for me.. Now if I count the number of new people wanting to go I hardly think the secrets will be let out on any lakes that have sweet spots.

I just want to try trountin... cause I have never fished for them before and only know the taste in aisle #3 at Fleury's Foodmart.

Good idea fellas!!!!
