WOULD YOU FISH WIT 5 ROD..?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

This method is known as spider rigging, a very common technique used in competitive crappie tournaments around many parts of the US.

Regarding icatchfishes, I think that's just a lurker trying to pull everyones chain here knowing how conservation conscious this site is. Best to just ignore the pest... I mean posts.

Now, regarding 5 rods. Joco, isn't that the limit for "Ice Fishing" and not from a boat or shoreline in open water? I would think the rules for 5 rods is specific to ice fishing and are not a seasonal regulation.
Thoughts?

Lunker Larry

that is what i taught but it as nothing to do whit...ice fishing its a ice fishing season so bet a certain date its 5 rod..and right now its 5 rod on ice or in boat trully that is what 2 mnr guy told me yesterday on phone.

they think they might change that if the weater is the same for a few years.

its not good to see this 5 rod thing in boats but this is very unusal year.

Joco. Looked it up and you're absolutely right. Here's what it states:

For winter fishing, anglers are entitled to use, depending on the zone, up to 5 or 10 lines during the periods mentioned in the following table.

The table goes on to state the species and fishing periods with exceptions. Here's an example:

Zones Number of lines authorized in winter
1 to 6a, 9 to 11, 15, 21b, 25c to 27d 5 lines, from December 20 to March 31

Exceptions
a) 5 lines are authorized in lac Memphrémagog, between December 20 and March 31, if fishing is practiced through the ice. Under other circumstances, fishing may only be practiced with one line.
b) For the waters of Zone 21 east of the Saguenay and within 1 km of Zones 18, 19, and 20 and the islands and islets within these zones, the period extends from December 1 to April 15.

Pretty interesting and you could really take advantage of it if we continue to get seasons like this one.

How many lines total would that be Graembo?

I've seen you troll 10 lines on Quinte.... solo..... so 3 in the boat should be able to troll 30 lines no problem.

Unless I'm ice-fishing (which I never am), I can't see myself using more than 1 at a time, even when trolling. Maybe that would change with more time/experience on the water, but for now, I'm still trying to master once at a time! :)

cheers,

The only manageable way to fish with Multiple rods would be from a Pontoon boat....

ponton would be good. better actualy.

but you can have 4 rod in aboat..you see 3guys fishing in boat often wit 3 rods anyway.

i would have no prob at all...have 4 rod on bait lawing on the side at 4 corners off aboat. 8) .

20 foot pontoon 5 guys/montreal area........50 rods in water.
