do you think bass is hard to catch generaly.?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

In rivers like the bonnechere and mississippi they will hit almost anything that moves. Its a little different on a deep clear lake though. Overall I do think bass are a non-selective easy fish to catch: Thats one reason I do not enjoy fishing for them very much.

One fish that gets a lot more credit than deserved are stocked trout (rainbows, brookies and browns) they will hit almost anything. The smartest (and most fun) fish in my opinion are wild brown trout.

I'm no muskie fisherman, but would it be a fair comparison to say a 3-4 muskie day is equal to a 24+ bass day?

DropShot'r
No comparison at all DropShot'r....if you look at the statistics that MCI puts out I believe that the stats on record are 1 Muskie per 14hrs of fishing...they are a very smart and elusive species...that is why I'm addicted to hunting them!!!...

Hey I have an idea...Let's ask B.A and 24/7 since they have been fishing for Muskie lately ....

Paul, Kev....would you say a 24+ bass day is equal to a 3-4 Muskie day :?:

3-4 muskie day

OK......i will be honest never happen to me......never 3 or 4 a day.

even 2 a day is hard.......4 a day.some did it or done it..but you wont see that a lot....ok some guide catch that number but they have more then one rod and sometime up to 4 on a boat so you can get a couple but one guy catching 4 musky him alone wit is own rod..harder.

there is not a tons off people that do catch 4 musky a day...but 20 bass a day.there is a load and load off people doing that. easy....20 bass a day..those not have to be a good day for that. even if some day its 3 bass a day.  ..some other day can be 200.

but personaly dont see 3 or 4 musky = 20 bass.

but we dont have all the same experience in fishing.

I guess Bass are a little easier to catch , I mean after all you don't have to shovel off the boat launch to catch bass ....

NONE THE LESS!

1st time out musky fishing we hooked a 30 lbs....

2 years after bass fishing i caught a 6. lbs

luck? difficulty?

bass = stillz

musky = time and cleanning your lure ,finding the bait fish... TIME!

3-4 musky in a day... my name aint fordson or trophymusky! :D

only the masters get that!

im still a hardcore rookie!

ok you hook lots in a day. thats the part about fishing i like frankly! :D

i think the beer can lure speaks for itself

if you can catch a fish on a beer can, you'll probably catch them on whatever else you throw at them

Good point............with that same reasoning can we conclude trout are stupid because we can catch them using a hook wrapped with feathers and tinsile?

growing up it was very easy to catch bass. you could catch average to small sized bass on any lure, it really didnt matter what you threw. with these fish, you couldnt fish any lure wrong.

now with the larger sized fish, thats a totally different story. yes you may get lucky once, maybe even twice. though to consistantly push them out, you really have to know what you are doing.

Want to try going for both species? We'll fish for bass using the beer can lure and then we'll fly fish for trout using tinsel and feathers. Let's see which species proves the most difficult. Here's a hint, it won't be the one hitting the beer can.

Bass are very easy to catch compared to other species. They are a whole lot of fun, too, especially on a fly rod. Yes, lunkers are always a challenge, but 2-3 pound bass aren't.

God made bass so everyone could catch a fish

Used to fish bass, I can remember some tough, tough days. Sure you can catch a bunch under a pound, but ctching a bunch over 2 or 3, a little tougher. Guess it depends what your after quality or quantity??? I'll take quality every time.

Weather, season, body of water all contributing factors to how easy or tough it is to catch any species.

Muskies....they are not that hard to catch, just difficult to find. Put a bait, just about any bait, infront of hungry fish chances are pretty good it will bite. It's finding those hungry fish. Same can be said for just about any species.

I grew up in south central Pennsylvania. I grew up a trout fisherman. I fished every stream I could from south-central to north central Pennsylvania until I moved to Ontario. I haven't tied in a long time...but I tied my own dry flies and streamers.

As far as I'm concerned the brook trout is the dumbest fish that swims

When they're on, brookies can be relatively easy, I'll admit. However, I've never had a released brookie hit my fly a 2nd time. With bass it's happened repeatedly....one fish hit 5 times in a row! Geeze, I kinda felt sorry for the dummy. They consistently prove to be less challenging for me than any other species.

BTW - Do you fly fish for bass? It's a whole lot of fun!

Gosh.........ya got me there.............what does a released brookie look like?

All my fly fishing was for trout. I suspect my ancient bamboo 5wt rod should be given a place of honor in the corner of the rec room. I'd be afraid the ol' rod would be quite brittle.
